Canadians comment on the American “Mainstream Media” Surprise?
The pathetic and laughable American mainstream media has no credibility whatsoever with the vast majority of Americans so we thought we might report on what some of our Canadian friends think of the U.S. media. Very little difference!
We are sure that our American readers know well some of our closest neighbors and cousins. Of course you know those polite, kind, quiet, unobtrusive, benevolent, unassuming people just north of New York, Michigan, New Hampshire, North Dakota and a few other states.
Last May, on this site I reported on what a native born Canadian (of many Canadian generations) thought of the American presidential election. He held back nothing in his comments. His view could have come from somebody from Florida or Texas as well as it was in line with actual American opinion. He sees the situation from the Montreal region often from the main-stream American media. Fortunately, he is able to pick up fair news’ views from the internet and networks other than the big three networks. The following are his comments from earlier this year.
“The reason Donald Trump is getting so much attention from the public is that he is saying what many people are thinking.” What do you mean? “Just look at the economy, it’s still weak and there seems to be no job growth which is what people are concerned about. I don’t believe the government’s employment numbers either, I drive in upstate New York, Vermont and Massachusetts and I see a recession in many places and high unemployment. Not long ago, I went into a sandwich shop in upstate New York and the five people on line in front of me paid with food stamps.”
“People have had bad experiences with the politicians in charge whether Republican or Democrat….the fact is that both parties have failed voters miserably for a very long time. The economy is not growing and there are just not enough jobs………. And all these politicians keep making promises that fail. But some of these career congressmen seem to be doing quite well. I read that they become lobbyists and make fortunes.” He finds the American main stream media is extremely biased to the left and the democrats.
And as for our other friends and business associates in Quebec, Manitoba and British Columbia, what are their opinions? To begin, we note that that they have been making these comments for over a year. The media bias became even more obvious during the recent presidential campaign. It has been ongoing for several years and will heighten as the jackals of the main stream media will be relentless in attacking anything that President-elect Donald Trump or the Republican Senate and House attempt or accomplish. The primarily New York and Washington based media buffoons have already begun. Just take a look at a Washington newspaper, in our view it is an excellent vehicle for puppy training and lining the bottoms of birdcages.
A businessman from northern Quebec said that he was astounded by the media’s liberal bias. He expected some favoritism toward the left but in his view it has been overwhelmingly one-sided. He sees it as 90% favoring the democrats while constantly focusing on any unconfirmed allegations on Donald Trump and headlining them. He notes that they blatantly downplay all the negative news concerning Mrs. Clinton. He said that “the whole campaign was a pathetic demonstration of media bias.”
A British Columbia investor’s view of media bias was rather sarcastic: “Are you kidding, I have never seen anything like it, the media tends to be liberal but this has been off the scale. “ He opines from a business perspective which he hopes will benefit from the Trump election. He is quite aware that the Canadian economy is heavily influenced by the American economy and that successes in the American economy will have a positive impact on the Canadian economy. He adds that cumbersome regulations are strangling both economies. He hopes that very restrictive regulations can be addressed.
A Manitoba investor and businessman really is quite specific in his criticism of the media. “The major old line international cable news company had a panel style program during the campaign masquerading as an independent news commentary program. They presented it as independent news but it was nothing but a one sided set up with their own stooges for the democrat. They must assume that everyone in North America is stupid.” He is not, I can assure you of that.
In our opinion, most people are not stupid and have seen first-hand the one sided bias of the main-stream U.S. media. More and more, they can see what has transpired and are quite aware of it. The bottom line is that we are hopeful that Donald Trump can bring the economy back so it will benefit all North Americans; it will not be an easy task. We do not expect any main-stream media support at all; any positive opinions by the mainstream media will be begrudgingly given at best.
